Scott McCloud at SIGGRAPH
SIGGRAPH is expanding their speakers this year to include some different areas. They announced a while ago that the CTO of EA would be a speaker, and they just announced that another speaker is going to be Scott McCloud. Pretty cool.

They say there are going to be three featured speakers. Since we've got one from games and one from comics, I wonder where the third one is going to be from. Movies have already been an integral part of SIGGRAPH, otherwise I might guess it would be some Hollywood type. Nothing else immediately springs to mind, though.

oooh, i would go to that. when i first went to siggraph in 1996, the keynote speaker was douglas adams! he gave a good speech, but it was so crowded and i was so far in the back, i didn't even have the slightest chance of meeting him. i wish i had.

i would love to see scott mccloud, though. how cool would that be?!

I don't know if you know, but SIGGRAPH is in San Diego this year. They usually give us lots of free exhibit-only registrations to give out to people, so if you want to make the trek down, I could get you one of those. I'm not sure that that would get you in to see Scott McCloud, though.

Although, if you just want to see him, he and his family are currently doing their 50-state tour, and I find it very likely that they will have a stop in San Francisco some time in late July.
