Well, the Boggle tournament turned out really well, even though there were fewer people than expected.
There were a total of 10 people in the tournament, so we decided to do 3 games of 3 people each, with one person sitting out each round. This rather easily lead to having 10 rounds, which turned out to be plenty. At the end of the 10 rounds, the tope 4 people played 4 rounds to determine the championship. I finished the 10 rounds with one tie for first and one second place finish, which I was pretty happy about. I ended up second overall in the tournament, thanks to some nice final-four play by magid, the new Boggle Queen. I'm actually really glad that I didn't win the tournament, since it would have seemed pretty cheesey for me to win my own tournament. Of course, now that the first one is out of the way with, I'll happily win the next one, which I definitely plan on having. Before I do, though, I should figure out what sort of arrangements to make based on how many people ended up being there. 10 people worked out easily. 11 would have been more tricky. 9, 12, and 13 would have been fine, too. Of course, not knowing until people actually decide to show up kind of makes it tricky. I wonder if I sold tickets to the next one I could get a firmer count of how many people are going to show up. Say $2-$5 per person or something like that, and then donate the money to charity. We'll see.
Many thanks to everyone who showed up, and thanks especially to zzbottom for hosting the event.
