Nice welcome home: letter from buyers' lawyer saying buyers are backing out because their loan was denied. Yes, they were pre-approved. Something changed in their situation between pre-approval and doing the final loan approval, apparently. And, no, I don't get to keep any of the deposit, since loan denial is one of the conditions under which they get their deposit back.
Am pretty screwed money-wise, but I think I'll be OK. I'll either do some kind of weird refinancing on the interest only (something my realtor mentioned that I don't understand), or I'll borrow money from my parents. My realtor is pretty confident that we can get the house under agreement again pretty quickly. But, fuck. I really don't need to deal with this hassle right now. Although, really, I'm lucky that I have options and a good safety net. I know not everyone does.
I think I'm still going to do the big move next weekend, since the sooner I can move to my new place the sooner I can start the short commute. And, after all, I'm already paying rent there. I just won't be in a rush to get the place completely cleaned and emptied out next weekend.
