Urgh. If I weren't so darned loyal, I might go for an Editorial/Production Asst. job. But I'm pretty happy where I am, and I'm loyal, so I'm not going to.

The fact that it's a temp job doesn't alter your feelings of loyalty? Or does the fact that you've been there so long now override the fact that it's a temp job?

If it were a short temp job with a definite end date, I wouldn't have developed very strong loyalty feelings, so yes, the fact that I've been here so long with no indication that they would be getting rid of me soon does "override" the fact that it's a temp job. But, I guess "loyalty" isn't the only thing preventing me from putting in an application for an available permanent position.

Loyalty really boils down to: I like my boss and I think me leaving would cause her stress; I feel like she, and other really do count on me and are pleased with the work I do.

Other factors are: I'm lazy and not well-suited to job-hunting. I don't want to rewrite my resume, or do self-sell in an interview. I think I would like editorial or production better than I like Marketing, but I might not, so I'm more inclined to stick with what I've grown pretty comfortable with. And that "pretty comfortable with" is, I'm realizing, a really important thing for me. Yes, I'd like more money and more benefits and a security pass that didn't say "Visitor" and need renewing every two months, but I don't want those things enough to mess with this particular aspect of my life that feels pretty stable and reasonably pleasant.
