Watched a free screening of Vanity Fair last night. I enjoyed it. Good cast, I thought.
IMDb provides some interesting tidbits. It was dramatized several times in the early 20th century. It has been made into a mini-series 3 times (1967, 1987, 1998). Also interesting is that Jonathan Rhys-Meyers (George), who was in Bend It Like Beckham, is playing Schmendrick in an upcoming (in pre-production, scheduled to come out Christmas 2006) remake of The Last Unicorn, with Christopher Lee (Count Dooku) as King Haggard, Mia Farrow as Molly, and Angela Lansbury as Mommy Fortuna. It doesn't say, so I assume this is live-action instead of animated.
Today I finish up New Genre editing. We're starting at 3:00 and going until we're done, which will likely be somewhere around 10:00. Maybe earlier, since there are some shorter stories. We'll see. Looking forward to it, but it's hard to get too excited. I'm pretty tired, since I stayed up last night to finish Doomsday Book, which was excellent all the way to the end. I had a bit of a dream just before coming fully awake that involved the book. I think I'm going to give this book a few days to sit and stew in my mind before i try to start something else.
Besides being tired, and perhaps contributing to it, my allergies are in full swing today. I need to be productive, though. We'll see what happens.
