Noise
Well, I wasn't woken up at 4:30 by birds chirping outside my window this morning. Instead, I was woken up before 4:00 by one of the most magnificent thunderstorms I've been in in quite some time. Lots of very loud thunder, some of it extremely close. For the really close ones, I could hear a sharper, explosion-type noise, which then settled into a rumbling. I'm not sure how close it has to be for one to hear that, but I'm sure it was pretty darn close.

We're supposed to maybe get some more thunderstorms this afternoon. I watched one pass by across the river from work yesterday, and I got to see some nice lightning. Watching a thunderstorm from the 11th floor is kind of neat.

Same here. I didn't mind being woken by that at all. Cooling effect was quite appreciated too.

I was awakened also, but I did not get up to watch. I quite resented the intrusion, actually, and turned over under the covers trying to shut out the noise and get back to sleep.

Woke me up. Have been informed that the loudest bits we heard (an earsplitting double boom, nearly simultaneous w/the flash, and definitely shaking the house, that did indeed sound like an explosion) were almost directly overhead, but that it was just leaping between clouds, or it would have been much more exciting, and not in a good way ;) (I did not see any of the lightning directly, but he did.)
