Gauging interest
If I sent you an email inviting you to a performance at my house, and if I said I would give no information whatsoever about the performance prior to said performance, would you show up?

Addendum to my prior response.

If it involved clowns or people dressed up like cartoon characters such that you could only see the costume and not the person, I'd reserve the right to run away (possibly after punching them).
