It was a good burrito. And it was a nice walk. I very well may take the extra time to head down there the next time I don't bring lunch. I'm sure it was quite a bit healthier than what I would get at Wendy's, too.

Nope.

Actually, judging by what I get, the Spicy Chicken Fillet is the only thing they have.

I agree. They would definitely get more business as "Spicy Chicken Filet Hut". Yumm. Too bad I'm full.

Why do people want to buy food from a 'hut'?

Don't mistake queue's lack of adventurous spirit for reality.

Not burritos, but they do do a very nice taco salad. Okay, it's just a regular salad with chili poured over it and a package of tortilla chips to mix in, but I still like it.

They also did pita sandwiches for a while.

No, thankfully they leave burritos to the professionals.

Just a check in - do you like mexican food anyway, and this is just a hurl at the Toco Hell suggestion, or is this just a hurl regards all mexican food?

Oh, I love Mexican food--but I wouldn't say Taco Bell qualifies.

Having been courted by an employee of tacohell (i worked a few feet from them one summer), I know Way Too Much and could never, ever, ever eat there again.

That'll teach you to remember things.

I have heard similar comments about almost any chain restaurant/fast food place everywhere. However, my personal experience is that it really depends on who is running the shop. I personally worked at a McDonalds and a KFC when I was a teen. In truth, despite the unhealthy food options, both the places I worked were well maintained, clean facilities; at the McDonalds, everything arrived frozen, you'd grill it or fry it and send it along - and the managers were good about chucking stuff after its 15 minutes had passed. In the KFC, the chicken was good chicken, shipped in every day fresh, packed under ice. The cole slaw was made fresh on site, and then put in the walk in, where it had four days "to live" before it would be chucked. Most everything else arrived frozen or was a dry mix. I'd say it was a healthy as any friend chicken that I'd ever cook at home - not that fried chicken is a health food.
Unfortunately, there is no way to know if any particular fast food place is a rat infested food poison center or if it is an efficient and clean establishment serving food of questionable health quality.

Ya know, I think your little spiel there about how healthy fast food restaurants can be totally makes up for the not having founded Starbucks oversight.

Ick.

I'm guess his plan was that eventually his stench would overpower you and then he'd be able to "have his way" with you.

Once again, Ick.

what?

Yes there is. There is definitely a magical way to tell if fast food is healthy or not: IT IS NEVER HEALTHY. Have you heard of the company "YUM!" that has infested Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, KFC, and a bunch of others? Have you been here before? http://www.kfccruelty.com/bloodbucket.html Fast food is never healthy. Factory farming in america is harmful. Even if I were not a bleeding heart activist, I think one of the main problems with American over-consumption stems from food related issues --especially regarding processed foods and foods including partially hydrogenated soybean oil. preservatives are ever-common in fast food too. Totally harmful to the body. Factories inducing these things are also harming other countries. By the time we are 2 years old, we have a Happy Meal and a pop shoved in our faces. And if this doesn't speak to you directly (as if you can't relate or something) it applies to the "billions and billions served" plastered on the glowing M. I know that this reply is crazy and out there, but I was personally horrified when you were ignorantly condoning and defending fast food as being "healthy". It's a poor unsupported argument. I have much more to say about it, but I don't want to be terribly tasteless in bothering a stranger. Just think a little bit before you post such unfounded things.

Just think a little bit before you post such unfounded things.

Well, I've never thought before posting unfounded things before... why would I start now?

So, hey there! Welcome to my live journal, odd-stranger-far-from-home. How did you happen across my LJ? Surely, you weren't just running a search on all the logs looking for anyone who might be making positive references to fast food restaurants? When I poked around for a link, this was the shortest path that came up:

majes -> beowabbit -> tikva -> peaceflower -> distantvictory -> bipedalbeetle (5 hops)

That puts you a long way from home.

Heh. I'm not often accosted by random folks in my LJ. You might wanna check your sensitivity monitor though - if you read my post, you'll see that I'm not listing these as healthy food options. Lines such as "despite the unhealthy food options" and "Unfortunately, there is no way to know if any particular fast food place is a rat infested food poison center or if it is an efficient and clean establishment serving food of questionable health quality" aren't exactly ad campaign material for McD's. I'm supposing that you are of the mind that they are all evil, heartless corporations, raping the world of its resources, polluting the environment, hypnotizing the youth of the world, and luring them in to bad food-related lifestyle choices. Yeah, well, there you go. I'm not going to argue that with you. Welcome to the 21st century. Yeah, I've read Fast Food Nation too - I know what a mess these places are and what they produce. Given that, I tend to avoid fast food places mostly. However, not entirely - it's not my religion, so to speak. It sounds like this is your campaign of choice though. Good luck with it. I certainly appreciate when folks have something which feels terribly important to them, and with which they feel strong in their need to share info about it. The world can certainly use more advocates.
