Google thing at work
Reading the message board at work, I discover that it was apparently the QHosts virus, which I'd seen before on majes's kids' computer. The person posting about it said "maybe Google was hacked," and apparently that's what our IT people saw and decided that Google had been hacked.

I mean, really.

Queue point?

Or were you deliberately using the historical present?

Or what about the apostrophe ess after "majes": "majes's kids"? If a word ends in the "s" sound and you want to make it possessive, you only add the apostrophe, not the apostrophe ess. Of course, you know that, since you correctly wrote "kids' computer" (I assume he has more than one kid), so I want my Queue Point! <grin>

According to the Chicago Manual of Style, single nouns that end in ess, with the exception of "Jesus", get an apostrophe ess to make them possessive, just like any other single nouns.

Plural nouns, like "kids", just get an apostrophe to make them possessive.

Why is Jesus so special, anyway?

I think Chicago prefers to leave it because it's just so heavily a tradition to do it that way or something.

Too lazy to Google

What's the "historical present"? (I'm guessing it's the "I discover" bit? If so, yes, that was intentional.)
