So, I'm going to start my own webzine of speculative fiction. Why? Because I like editing fiction, so I fogure the best way to get to do this is to have people send me stories that they want me to publish.
So the first thing I need is a name. Well, okay, it's not really the first thing I need, but it's the easiest thing I need. Does anyone have any suggestions?
The next thing I need (which is probably really the first thing I need, but it's more difficult) is a statement about what I'm looking for. I think I'll leave it pretty open for now and see what ends up happening with the kinds of stories I decide I want to publish.
And then I probably want to decide how often I want to publish it, although I think that will probably wait until I see how many submissions I end up getting. For now, I think I'll just wait a while to collect some submissions, then publish. And I should probably deicde how many stories I'm going to publish, or at least an approximate word count of stories I'm going to publish (like, I could publish 20,000 words per issue, however many stories that ends up being, something like that).
And I need to figure out if I'm just going to accept short stories, or if I'm going to accept poetry, articles, art, or whatever else.
And then I guess I can put out the call for submissions. Although if I've already asked you if you would write a story for me if I asked, feel free to get started writing.
Okay, that's about it. I'd like to hear suggestions for a name, and any other advice people have would be welcome.
