Birthday
Well, despite a few glitches, the birthday thing seemed to go fairly well. The cake was a bit dry for my tastes, but it served its purpose, and other people didn't seem to mind its dryness. Some people actually like cake like that. Still in search of a good chocolate cake recipe to make for cake pans. Anyone got a birthday coming up so that I can make another cake? Maybe I'll make one to bring in to work. We have a little corner where people bring in food occasionally. I have often partaken of food, but I've never brought any myself, so it's probably time. I'll have to figure out which one to do. I wonder if I could turn one of my cake pans into some sort of mathy decoration.

Chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting?

(Link)
Was my uncle's favorite cake. Used to make it for him with my Mom when I was a kid. Wonder if I could still track down the frosting recipe. Sweeter and more spreadable than actual peanut butter (though I like the taste of just plain salted peanut butter with chocolate better than added sugar stuff).

If you can track down the recipe, feel free to float it my way.

check with slinkr.

i'm trying to coordinate with her. so she can be my milk-provider. (you can't have peanut butter sandwiches w/o milk, and i can't have milk.)

Re: BTW

I thought you had decided on May 5.

But if you're trying to co-ordinate with me (not a task for the faint of heart, as you know), May 4 (Saturday) might work better. May 5 is likely to be the first day of softball season, which means I'll be busy in JP from 4-ish to 6-ish or later.

Whichever day you choose, I will obtain appropriate quantities of milk for the party and see that it arrives at your house before the guests do, even if my own arrival is a little bit later.

-Beth, wondering how many different people's journals we need to co-opt for the purpose of arranging our busy social lives

Re: BTW

Hm. One of the reasons I was leaning towards a Sunday rather than a Saturday is so that I can have some time to bake bread. I suppose I could just be really busy on Saturday, if need be. Let me float the idea.

co-opting

(Link)
I was going to make a comment about co-opting of journals in magid's journal, but I was afraid it would be taken as a serious complaint instead of just as me being a smartass.

And now your journal has been co-opted too. See what you get for not speaking up?

-Beth, off to e-mail Bitty because I'll never remember what we decided to do if I have to search through your archives and magid's for it

what, you? a smartass? never.

(besides, my journal was already co-opted today... feel free to do it yourself.)

(are people making wildly more interesting posts to comment on today, or is work everywhere wildly boring, or what? (attempting to turn the co-opting in another direction for no particular reason))

Well, I was nice enough to start my own post in my own journal so as to no longer co-opt y'all's.

The last time I made chocolate cake I ended up eating it spread with peanut butter. Yum. So I think chocolate cake would be definitely be a good "PB and..." item. Even if you sliced the cake to fit between pieces of bread with the peanut butter. Peanut butter and chocolate cake sandwich. Or make the cake serve as bread slices and simply add pb as the filling.

Is your (bitty's) "PB and..." thing definite? (Like with a date and all?) or still in planning stage? I don't want to accidentally miss it.

I'll have you know you are responsible for what I about to do--raid my cupboard for some pb and chocolate candies. Unfortunately I don't have time to make a cake, and was feeling too full yesterday to entertain ideas of keeping a couple of pieces of Vader around for fulfilling later munchies. Curses.

I take pride in my work :-) Muahahahahahahaha...

And lately, I've been craving peanut butter so much that I just go home, get a spoonful of pb, and toss a couple of chocolate chips in for a quick dessert.

Unfortunately, I don't have a Count cake pan. I have Sesame Street cookie cutters, though, and instructions for frosting those. Hmm, a batch of Sesame Street cookies might be fun to bring in to work.
