One cake down

Serached cooking's memories for a cake recipe and found a recipe for Cook's Illustrated chocolate sheet cake. Very rich and dense, and it realy didn't need frosting, which made the creamy orange frosting I put on it even better. I brought the last bits of it with me to work today.

A very nice weekend overall, although I didn't really catch up on any sleep. RedSox game on Friday, where I discovered that I am not, in fact, a jinx. Windows Art Project O Saturday, followed by dinner in the North End at a schmancy restaurant and then Once Upon a Time in Mexico. Cake and Catan on Sunday (a very good game, with everyone in the running). I watched several Buffy episodes over the wekeend, and got some reading done (just about finished with Agatha Christie's Surprise! Surprise!, a collection of short mysteries (some with Poirot, my favorite)). Grabbed The Constant Gardener by John Le Carré to start next. Haven't read nay of his books before. Still have a long way to go in my quest to read all of the books that I own but haven't read.

Free lunch at work today, celebrating something or other (who cares? It's free food). With the cake that I brought, that means I'll likely have enough to eat. Woo. And things are looking on track for me to get out today what I need to get out today. QActually, it looks more than on track, so I'm holding my breath to see when something is going to come up which will make me have to put this on hold or finish it early or something. So, anyway, plodding along on it (easy stuff, just getting the answers together for the activities I worked on last week).

Need to do dishes when I get home and put away laundry. We'll see what happens from there.
