Pretty much a useless visit, much like most of my doctor visits. He took a strep culture, which came out negative (d-uh). He said since it has been going on for 3 weeks, it's most likely viral (i.e. nothing they can do about it). He said that, while it's atypical, it could possibly be an allergy thing (atypical because it's an isolated symptom instead of being accompanied by runny nose, coughing, watery eyes, etc.), so he gave me a 10-day sample of Clarinex, some allergy medicine. If I'm not better after that, I should give him a call. Oh, and if I get nauseous or develop a rash, I should stop using the medicine.
So, basically, what I got from my doctor's visit I could have gotten from an expert system and a drug store, which is pretty much how I feel about all my doctor visits. I guess I should feel pretyt lucky that I hardly ever get sick enough to actually need a doctor. I just don't like going in, especially when it seems so useless. I've spent more than my share of time in the hospital with my brother, watching useless doctors do nothing for him.
