This is a funny joke. It looks like The Onion hacked CNN.com's Web site:

Are you sure it's a joke? It appeared on the Guardian and several other news sites as well...

I can't find anything about it on the DARPA site or either of the other supposed "sponsor" sites, but www.policyanalysismarket.org is up... It seems an awful lot of work to go to for a joke...

I don't actually think it's a joke. I was trying to be morbidly funny.

I was rather hoping it was a joke... I really wanted to *believe* that it was, at least...

*sigh*

Obviously I looked for the wrong keywords...

Ok, I'm going to just go back to my happy "I got a job!" bubble now...

These guys are going to put the Onion out of business. I mean, how do you parody that?

I'm sure someone will come up with something similar for the United States (as was mentioned in the article).

I could also see a story about someone who buys a lot of stock in some person getting assassinated, and then tries to make sure that the assassination happens, for no other reason than to make money in the market.

I could see someone using the idea in a political/spy novel so easily...
