Hey look, someone hacked this government server and put up some stupid crap. Yup, this is real funny.See the hilarity.
If this passes, you can bet I'll be demonstrating against this, gorging myself and blasting music in the streets. Fucking idiots.

It's all about tourism in RI:
the need for fasting and humble supplication before Providence

See what I mean? Lots of options for subverting it: "Eat for peace." Or, alternatively, turn it around and do the silence thing, but wear a sign that you're fasting for peace. Use their weapons against them, that's the ticket. Me - I think I'll be signing up for the "Eating and dancing to loud music for peace" group, 'cause I just can't go a day without food. If I'm going to risk my health for a cause, I'd like it to be like a serious risk (say, of getting shot or gassed or something), not something like not eating.

Of course, there's no way to know exactly what they mean by "fasting." It could be no food or water, or it might be no solid food, or possibly a more Lenten approach of no-food-you-like (no chocolate!), or something else entirely (one Indian friend fasts on Thursdays, which means no animal derived foods, just fruits and veggies.).
Which is not to say I support this as a bill, either.

I'm envisioning some kind of game show, a combination of Name That Tune and the eating competition one.
"I'd eat 1 pound of mayonnaise for peace."
"I'd eat 2 pounds of mayonnaise for peace."
"I'd eat 7 pounds of mayonnaise for peace."
"Eat that mayonnaise!"

Gotta have the French toast with Canadian-origin maple syrup - we're mad at Canada now
Iron Chef marathon, anyone?

With a theme ingredient of pretzels, maybe?
Works for me!
I mind me of the early shows where they didn't quite have the food budget of the later years and would end up with stuff like Battle Milk.
