Game
There's a post in gamedesigners talking about a big game where each person is a nation, and each nation can make decision about how to trade, etc. Someone commented on it bringing up technology levels and such, military and whatnot.

This got me thinking that, if you were to play with real countries, whoever got to be the U.S. would be able to stomp anyone else if they wanted to. So, then I got to thinking, what about a game where everyone playing is a "little country", and the U.S. (and, now that I'm thinking about it, other world powers) are all controlled by the computer. So, basically, it would be a struggle to make your own little country try to have some kind of voice in the world.

Might be interesting.

That sounds like a really cool idea. *thinking*...the US policy/actions change depending on who the current president is. Would you allow the user to choose a time period and have it programmed such that the actions of the US (and other major powers) are based on the actual policy from that time period? Or would you have a generic "this is how world powers will act" model?

Would your "little" countries be real countries? Which countries, other than the US, would you classify as "world powers"?

What a cool idea.

I don't know enough history, or have enough of an interest in historical research, to be able to make it fit actual periods of history. And, I really don't know enough about how various countries act to make it work with actual countries. So, I'm guessing that, if I ever do this (and this reminds me that I should put this in my_ideas), I would only do it with actual countries and historical periods if someone who knew that kind of thing were also involved in the project.

So, for now, the idea is to make a general "this is how big countries act" model, I guess.
