Trying to come up with a Googlewhack (I didn't), I came up with the phrase "mathematically erect." I would have thought someone else would have come up with it, but a Google search of that phrase (with quotes around it) doesn't turn anything up. It means the state of excitement when looking at something matematical, and it's also a play on the phrase "mathematically correct."

"I was looking at the theorem, and I became mathematically erect."

The really interesting question is whether only mathematically correct theorems get you going . . . or if you have more exotic tastes.

(This brings a whole new meaning to the phrase "math sicko," which previously only meant "one who gets an unnatural amount of joy from doing mathematics.")

when looking at something matematical

mate matical?

From that thought my mind wandered to "mate-o-mat," a place where one could procur a mate from vending machines.

It's nice to know that one's typos can spur others to feats of creativity. :-)

So, "mate matically erect" would mean, er, hmm. Maybe I don't want to go there . . .
