What I've done today besides work
Well, I've done some work. Not much, but some. Otherwise, I've:

  • Done my normal email and LJ.
  • Worked on a program for the current WESUN puzzle (I got working what I'd been trying to figure out, and it's running now. It's slow, but it should get there, hopefully more efficiently than my initial version).
  • Took a call from majes and acted as mathematical consultant. Also offered to write a Perl program to solve some problem of his at work.

I'm sure there are other things, too, but those are the most notable.

Took the 104 to Malden this morning, figuring that the bus ride was a bit shorter and also that getting a seat beats possibly not even getting on the train. The bus was late, but it got there only about 30 seconds after the first bus going the other way, so I really didn't lose out on that front. Times were probably equivalent, but I can't say more than that, since I didn't keep a close eye on the time.

I actually ate breakfast this morning at home. I can't remember the last time I did that. Thanks to a ride home yesterday from magid and a stop at the store, I was able to acquire soy milk, cereal, grapefruit, and avocados. Cereal fro breakfast, and I brought two avocados to work. I've already eaten one,and I'll probably eat the other one in an hour or two. I will most likely supplement that with something from the vending machine later. I need to figure out good, portable things that I can easily make and bring in. We'll see.

I've been keeping soymilk (and now my own cereal) at the office, o that I can have an actual breakfast without needing to rush through it in the morning. I like it a lot.

I kept soy milk at my old office. Unfortunately, the only refrigerators here are on the 5th floor, which involves rides on two separate elevators, so it's not terribly convenient. Plus, I have to remember to take the soy milk home on Fridays, otherwise it'll get thrown out.

Each floor really needs its own refrigerator and microwave. Blah.

I think I've seen juice-box-sized containers of soy milk. They're probably pricier than the large ones, but the shelf-stability might be worth it.

Yep, I was going to mention this. They are pricier per-unit-volume, of course, so might not be a happy daily solution, but could be a nice fallback.
