Work shmerk

I literally have nothing to do just now. After being out sick yesterday, I get in today to find a voice mail from the electronic production guy asking what changes I've made in the files, since I apparently have been making them in the wrong place. So, I sit here, not doing anything, lest I do the wrong thing, since, of course, I couldn't be told what the right place is or anything useful like that.

My key ring is dwindling. This morning, I took off the trunk key to a car that died at least two years ago. I took the key to the Saturn off yesterday. I took the key to the Dodge off a while ago. I took someone else's car and house keys off a while ago. My key ring contains my two house keys, my bike lock key, two keys to my locked filing cabinet at work, my mom's house key (is it to the old house or the new house? I forget), and two padlock keys from various moves (I'm not sure if we have the padlocks anywhere, but I would imagine we do). That's a little more than half the number of keys I had on my key ring a month ago, and some of the keys I took off were pretty bulky, so I have a very small key ring now.

Work update

Just heard from the electronic production guy. Chapter 2 (the co-worker's chapter) is ready to go. Chapter 1 (my chapter) still needs work. He is going to spend all day today on Chapter 1, so the files should be ready "by the end of the day." Which, of course, means "after I've gone home for the day", I'm sure. So I guess I should go hunt down some more work today. Or maybe screw around until I talk to my boss, who usually doesn't get in until 10:30 or so. She might want me to help the co-worker with Chapter 2, but that might be hard to coordinate. Also, it would mean I would feel compelled to fix all of the co-worker's mistakes, and that would be frustrating and tedious, so I think I might not suggest that. So, yeah, I guess I'll go hunt down work from the sub-boss and then just go visit the boss when she gets in to give her an update on what I heard.

Anagram animal OTD

gullible bluegill

Found this during a game of X-Jotto. I guessed gullible and got an 8. I was tempted to use my anagramming program to find the word, but I stuck it out and found it on my own. I'm having a lot of fun with X-Jotto, but I really would like to try it with an actual human sometime.

Hmm, I wonder how many anagram animals (anigramals?) I can find.

Swag

I went down to check out the employee craft fair, where cthulhia has her pysanky. It was my first look at varnished pysanky, and it looks really, really nice. When I got back to my cube, I saw two little things on my chair. They appear to be lapel pins (is that waht they're called?). Something like 3/4" x 1 1/4" pieces of metal with a pin in the back. They say "McDougal Littell", and they have some of the program art for the middle school program. We got a nice sticky-note pad with one of these designs on it a while ago. I've found it useful for doing X-Jotto figurings. i heard that we're going to be getting polo shirts soon. I wonder if they'll have the program art on them, or if they'll just have the company name.

Holiday Party

Work holiday party at Marché in the Prudential Center a week from Tuesday. Anyone been there? It sounds pretty neat, and, in any case, I'm not going to argue with them paying me to eat free food.

Not as I'd planned

Spent the evening not as I'd planned, but it was still a good evening. Got to spend time browsing books, and even bought some, 20% off thanks to theora's crappy job at BU. Dragged the TV stand into the bathroom and took a bath while watching The Simpsons on DVD. Heard a really funny Lord of the Rings rap. And now I'm going to read my book. About halfway through Book 7 out of 11. I should swing by Harvard Book Store and see if they have a used copy. Hmm, still almost two hours to decide to write a WOTD poem, but I don't really feel like it.

Email is down for a while for system upgrades, so I don't know how the X-Jotto game is going, although I must say treacle_well did really well.
