Bits of a weekend

No trouble getting to Providence or finding the hotel. There was a track meet in the area, so there were many high school kids in the hotel. The pool was filled with them on Friday night. Our room was right by the elevators and ice machine, so we got much noise at various points while trying to sleep.

Went shopping at Providence Place mall Saturday, then saw Star Trek: Nemesis there. I liked it, but I thought there were some silly points, so it's no wonder theora didn't like it. I tend to like most movies, so, if there's something I don't like about it, there's a good chance most normal people will hate it. No spoilers, but I will just say that there's a point near the end when I wanted to say "And he became a real boy."

Saturday night I was taken out to an expensive dinner at a fancy restaurant, Al Forno. It would have been perfect except for my trapezius spasming. Still a nice dinner. I had forgotten my Aleve, though, so I ended up getting out of bed at 3:30 and going downstairs to try to find some. The front desk person directed me to a minimart within walking distance. When I got there, a one-armed Middle Eastern man who spoke no English opened the door to let me know that they didn't open until 6 (it was about 4 by then). Got back to the hotel and got a cab to a Brooks. ATM down and their card things not working meant time while they tried to figure it out but eventually no cash to pay the cab, so I had the cabbie take me to an ATM. Back in the room after 5. I think I took a bath. Not sure when I finally got to sleep, but I spent a lot of the day sleeping.

When I finally got out of bed, we went to the RISD Museum of Art, which was cool. Didn't do much else. Watched a movie bakc at the hotel. The ride back was fine as well, and I got in to work by 8:30. I must say that it was really nice to sleep in my own bed last night.
