The janitors are striking starting this evening. I didn't see my building in the list of buildings that was going to be actively picketed this evening, but they are going to be adding more buildings as the strike continues.

We just got an email from the property manager for this building, telling us not to worry, that contingency plans have been made. We're supposed to help by making sure our trash and recycling bins are in plain sight. Oh, and apparently only one janitor is striking, since the subject of the email was "Janitor's strike". Heh.

In general, I don't like the power that unions have. I think they can do really good things, but I think they can abuse their power. But I don't like the idea that people aren't getting paid a fair wage. I'm not sure how to resolve that dichotomy in myself. As usual, I'm sure I won't do anything about it, since it doesn't directly affect me. It does make me more appreciative of what I have, though.

Ye gods, plural possessives done wrongly bug me everywhere I look. Particularly it's/its confusion and their/there/they're confusion -- feels like a bit of a curse sometimes (on me, for being distracted by it).
