Vision 5K
Out at dinner with my sister last night, she said that she (and her husband, I presume) would run in the Vision 5K, the race that bitty roped me into running. They're running a half marathon the weekend before, but she said she's running this race so that she can beat me. Last summer, I ran my first 5K since high school, and she and her husband also ran it. I finished something like 13 seconds before my sister.

I'd better start running. We've also bet $100 on the race, so, um, yeah.

pssst. they can't give you money if you don't post your donation page...

There would have been a delay (because they suck), but you should have gotten an email that gives you something looking like this http://www.active.com/donate/vision5kperkins/BRamire4 - I'd say KJackson7 or whatever. It should be auto-generated.

Try going to My Active Giving HQ and "customize my web opage;" see what happens with that.

I didn't sign up for an Active.com account. I'm guessing I should have.

I didn't become a member or anything (not paying them any more money than I have to for a crappy UI), but I did get a page autogenerated for me. Are you sure emails aren't caught in a spamtrap somewhere? Try checking it out.

Beth seems to have been the only one to go through the process painlessly and come out where she needs to be, so we can always ask her.

Pretty sure, since I got two other emails from them (confirming that I had registered and whatnot), neither of which contained any sort of webpage, autogenerated or not.

I didn't get a link to a page either, just the confirmation of $$ and confirmation of registration. Nothing in the spamtrap from them. I also didn't sign up for GetActive; they didn't say that was the only way to get a web page...

you shouldn't have to become a paid member; i didn't.
i'll have arthur or beth help you. *bangs head* i spent too much time this weekend dealing with their crappy site; i can't cope right now.

They were explicit that you could sign up for an account without being a paid member, so I don't think either of us was confused on that point. However, they were also explicit that it wasn't necessary to sign up for a free account, so we didn't. They might have said something about how signing up for a free account would make it easier to do fundraising, but I'm pretty sure they didn't mention anything about a website at that point.

huh. i'll see when i get home. arthur's better at this.
i haven't received any non-team-wokka-related mails from them, so they do seem to honor the don't spam me despite signing up function (they do *something* right!)

btw -- GetActive is someone very different. Their interface *works* :)
(Seriously, there seems to be a limit on creative urls out there. *sigh* active.com is not getactive, as far as i know. getactive has its own look and feel and the best functionality on the market. they also do more than races. i only point this out because while i have my sore spots, the getactive people themselves were wonderful and the product logical. so i will stand up for them when conflated with something as horrible as active.com.)

A past developer at my company used to say "so, um, yeah" all the time, and it was really annoying.

I feel it bears some specificity in our crowd
