Work and Life
I've been feeling pretty stressed out about work lately, and I've also started to be a bit worried about the extent to which it's eating my life. I chatted with a couple of friends about it, and then I talked with my boss today.

We talked for about an hour, maybe more (how many of you can say that your boss has suggested that you try speed dating?). Part of what we talked about was me being better organized, and part of what we talked about was me being able to not let the job eat my life. I need to force myself to do more stuff that isn't work and that isn't just sitting at home watching TV. I've got a lot of things to think about; I need to figure out what sorts of non-work things I want to make a priority in my life.

I think I'm going to take this weekend off (well, mostly off, at least; we'll see). I'm going to try to get my house into some kind of shape; I'm going to have lunch with my sister and her husband, and I think I might go shoe shopping with them to get some running shoes (it doesn't hurt that they're coming out here and that shopping is around here, too); I'm going to go to a concert (it doesn't hurt that it's free and within walking distance (by most anyone's definition) of my house). And here's a list of things that I might think about doing in the not-too-distant future:
  • run regularly;
  • join a gym;
  • buy a car;
  • find a role-playing game to join;
  • use more semicolons in my LJ posts.

P.S. Have you noticed that LJ is now autosaving drafts of posts?

Good for you! I was kinda' getting worried about you being devoured by work. It's greatto se you so involved and productive, but at some point it catches up to you, so I'm glad you're taking steps now, before some horrible burn-out.

I vote for bridge :) Yes, you definitely need more bridge in your life. And chocolate. I had much of each last weekend, and look! I'm all happy :) The cure for (most) ills.
